Our Corporate and Sponsors department engages our external stakeholders in supporting our school programs and connects with businesses to develop their sustainability practices .

The Growth and Education department focuses on program delivery, event organisation, educational development and strategic improvement. Both departments are supported by our CEO, administration team and our Board.

Lucinda Sheehan

Partner Coordinator

Lucinda, an Environmental Science graduate with a postgrad in Education, combines her love of sustainability and teaching through her work with EcoMarines—bringing environmental education to remote Queensland communities and inspiring students to create positive, local change.

After graduating with a Bachelor of Environmental Science, Lucinda started her professional career working with the federal Department of Agriculture, Biosecurity and Water. Performing across several divisions, she developed an intrinsic passion for the environment, sustainability and science, which equalled her love of working with and helping others. Years later, she returned to university and completed a postgraduate degree in Education. Since working with EcoMarines, Lucinda has played a vital role by taking her expertise to remote communities across Queensland, including several islands in the Great Barrier Reef. "EcoMarines is the epitome of the adage "think global, act local". The program provides students with an invaluable pathway to create positive change in a way that is fun, supported, and inclusive."

Kaela Lowry

Program Coordinator

Kaela, an Environmental Science and Business student at Griffith University, is passionate about empowering young leaders through fun, engaging environmental education. As EcoMarines’ newest Program Coordinator, she brings experience from leading community sustainability projects with Logan City Council.

Currently studying a Bachelor of Environmental Science/Business at Griffith University, with a major in Sustainable Business and Environmental Management, Kaela wants to empower young leaders through environmental education. The newest Program Coordinator at EcoMarines believes that the success of eco-initiatives often hinges on creating enjoyable and engaging experiences.
Through her various involvements with Logan City Council, she assisted and led the delivery of community-based sustainability initiatives, such as the Logan Pest Fishing Cup, Clean Up Australia Day, a booth at the Child Protection Family Fun Day and the launch of a native botanical garden.

Juliano Oliveira

Media and Communications Officer

Juliano is a journalist with a passion for social and environmental causes, bringing experience from top media outlets in Brazil and Australia. At EcoMarines, he shares inspiring stories to amplify the program’s impact and connect with wider audiences.

Juliano is an experienced journalist with a genuine interest in social causes and the environment. He has a bachelor’s degree in Journalism and one in Cinema. Juliano began his career in 2009 after being granted the "Best Young Journalist Award" in Sao Paulo, Brazil. Since then, he has accumulated knowledge as a reporter, subeditor, editor, creative content writer and press agent.
Back in Brazil, he worked for "Folha de Sao Paulo Newspaper", one of the biggest media outlets in South America. In Australia since 2016, he has worked as a senior journalist for Reading Radio and Mackay Local News. Recently, one of his articles was the national winner of a competition called "Tell Us Your Story 2024 - Neighbours Every Day".

As CEO of EcoMarines, Angela combines strategic development and community engagement to empower young environmental leaders. She collaborates with schools and partners to grow innovative, action-based programs that inspire lasting change.

As CEO of the EcoMarines Foundation, Angela is passionate about empowering young people to become the next generation of environmental leaders. With a background in strategic development and community engagement, she is dedicated to expanding the EcoMarines’ program and inspiring schools and their students to take action for a healthier planet.
Under Angela’s leadership, EcoMarines is continuing to grow into a dynamic, action-orientated program that educates and motivates students. Committed to collaboration and impact, Angela works closely with educators, corporate partners and environmental experts to create innovative programs that drive real change.

Oliver Brown

Program Coordinator

Oliver is a budding environmental scientist with a passion for how communities can drive climate change mitigation, sparked by his early studies in sociology and a transformative exchange trip to Thailand. Since then, he’s been actively involved in advocacy for social issues and gaining hands-on experience in conservation.

As a budding environmental scientist set to graduate next year, Oliver is passionate about the intersection between community and climate change mitigation. His interest in this space started during his first degree – a Bachelor of Arts – where he first learnt about sociology and the key social issues of the time. Fast forward to 2023, when he went to Thailand on a short exchange program through university, and Oliver was introduced to the elusive field of environmental anthropology. This trip was a major turning point in shaping Oliver’s career! Since then, he’s been engaging with various communities and organisations to advocate for social issues like housing and disability, while continuing to gain experience in conservation spaces.

Latisha Somers

Program Coordinator

Latisha is a graduate Environmental Scientist passionate about ecology, with hands-on experience in wildlife care, bush regeneration, and flora and fauna conservation. She’s dedicated to community-driven conservation and hopes to inspire the next generation through her work with EcoMarines and local citizen science initiatives.

Latisha Somers

Program Coordinator

Latisha is a graduate Environmental Scientist with a passion for ecology. She has volunteered for both flora and fauna conservation programs. At Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, she tends to endangered koalas, doing tasks such as enclosure maintenance, feeding, and health monitoring. Latisha loves attending citizen science events in her local region, including bird surveying and spotlighting for arboreal mammals. She has experience as a Bush Regenerator, restoring forests and riparian environments. Latisha volunteers with Nerang National Park, removing invasive weeds and protecting natives, which provide vital habitats for animals. She wishes to inspire community-driven conservation by engaging with young environmental leaders at EcoMarines.

Morgraine is an aspiring environmental scientist graduating in 2025, with a passion for ecology and a background in tour guiding and student leadership. Raised in Brisbane, her love for nature drives both her work with EcoMarines and her curiosity about the natural world, especially plants and animals.

Morgraine is an aspiring environmental scientist with a passion for the natural world. Currently on track to graduate with a bachelor's degree in environmental science in 2025, she is building her career with EcoMarines and has experience as a tour guide and PASS Leader. Raised in and around Brisbane, Morgraines' favourite memories are of her time spent outdoors, which sparked a lasting love and admiration for nature. This passion drives her to learn as much as possible about the world, particularly plants, animals, and ecology. Outside of her academic and professional work, she enjoys exploring nature, gardening, discovering unique plants and animals, staying active, reading, trying new foods, and spending time with friends. "I'm excited to work with the team to create waves that have a lasting impact."

With 27+ years of international business experience, Jacqui brings a strong focus on innovation, sustainability, and community engagement to EcoMarines. As a certified Scrum Master and change management expert, she leads teams to deliver impactful, high-quality outcomes that empower young environmental leaders and support long-term sustainability.

With over 27 years of international business experience, Jaqcui brings a passion for innovation, sustainability, and community engagement to EcoMarines Foundation. Her career has focused on delivering impactful change through project management, stakeholder collaboration, and cross-cultural communication skills that align closely with EcoMarines’ mission to empower young environmental leaders. As a certified Scrum Master and Prosci Change Management Practitioner, Jacqui leads teams using Agile principles to deliver meaningful, high-quality outcomes. Her background in Quality and Information Security Management Systems also supports EcoMarines’ commitment to operational excellence and long-term sustainability. Jacqui holds dual Bachelor’s degrees in International Business and Commerce, with majors in Japanese and Marketing, along with Diplomas in Market Research and Export Management. Her professional journey spans the UK, Japan, and Australia, where she helped organisations grow through innovation and strategic partnerships. At EcoMarines, Jacqui is proud to support programs that inspire students to become environmental stewards. I thrive on helping schools and communities navigate the challenges of sustainability, fostering leadership, inclusivity, and real-world impact through education and collaboration.

Suha is the Marketing and Communications Assistant at EcoMarines, combining her studies in Hotel Management and Marketing with a passion for sustainability. She supports social media, content creation, and campaigns that raise environmental awareness and promote positive community impact.

Suha Yoon is the Marketing and Communications Assistant at EcoMarines Foundation. She came to Australia to study for a Bachelor of International Tourism & Hotel Management / Bachelor of Business, majoring in Hotel Management and Marketing. Suha's commitment to sustainability is remarkable as she is passionate about promoting environmental responsibility through applying marketing initiatives that positively impact the community and protect our Earth. She assists in managing social media platforms, creating promotional contents and campaigns to increase environmental awareness and highlights EcoMarines Programs and events. Suha's academic journey has extended her knowledge in the marketing field, and working with EcoMarines Foundation allowed her to apply skills in a real-world and community-driven setting. “I am excited to continue making more meaningful contributions and spread positivity to help our team achieve teams’ growth and success.”

Board Director

Ben commenced his working career in Banking and Finance in the mid 1980’s focusing on structured property finance transactions. The GFC allowed Ben to have a break from the finance sector and joined the Qld Trust for Nature as its inaugural external CEO in 2012. In 2016 Ben joined Skroo and Jude Turners private family group to help establish the Turner Family Foundation. This Foundation has established a number of projects including the Hidden Vale Wildlife Centre which oversees the breeding and research into Australia’s endangered and threatened wildlife in partnership with the University of Queensland. Other projects include the ecological restoration of the Turners three Nature Refuges and the Little Liverpool Range Initiative, a wildlife corridor in Southeast Queensland. In 2024 Ben rejoined the finance sector as an Executive Director with GPS Investments, a private mortgage fund based in Brisbane. Ben is committed to stopping biodiversity loss so that future generations can enjoy the natural assets that past generations have enjoyed and the EcoMarines programs provides our youth with the knowledge and tools to make positive changes for the future.

With almost 40 years in the media, Bill is one of Australia’s most experienced and recognised cross platform news and sport journalists, commentators and presenters. He is currently the outspoken host of Nine Radio Brisbane’s Mornings show on 4BC, and commentator of the 2024 Olympic Games. Bill has previously been the sport and news anchor for Seven and Ten News in Brisbane as well as hosting major network’s news and sporting events. Bill is also a sought-after media trainer, event host, licenced property agent and busy auctioneer for Apollo Auctions. A proud EcoMarines board member, and host of ‘The Wave’ since its inception, Bill’s passion for caring for our pristine waterways stems from his love of Moreton Island and the bay, which he’s been visiting with his family of four sons since high school.

Brian is CEO of Sports Analytics, a Brisbane-based sports consultancy focussing on sponsorship effectiveness and improvement. Prior to this, Brian’s career has been in sports and tourism, with senior Marketing and Management roles at V8 Supercars, Dreamworld, American Express and Warner Village Theme Parks. Brian sees EcoMarines as Environmental Educators, giving the next generations the tools to be environmentally aware, so they can become proactive agents of change and advocate for sustainable practices.

David James

Tangalooma Island Resort, Director

David has been with Tangalooma Resort for 35 years. Joining the company as a scuba diving instructor in 1987, David soon took up other positions across the resort, including the role Resort /Hotel Operations Manager. In 1993, after three year’s working overseas, David re-joined Tangalooma, firstly as a Resort Operations Manager and then onto the role of Director of Sales and Marketing. In taking on the role, David quickly identified the potential of Asian tourism markets and began sales calls to China, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia, and Korea. In 2001 Tangalooma became known in China as Haitundao – ‘Dolphin Island’ and by 2003 David had established Tangalooma offices in China and Korea and in India by 2009. His strong relationships throughout Asia and efforts to identify & meet the needs of Asian consumers have seen Tangalooma’s reputation grow exponentially; the resort is now widely regarded as the number one island destination among Asian markets to Australia. Despite this success in attracting international visitation to the Resort, David has always been committed to ensuring that the Resort always attracted a majority of visitation from domestic Australian travellers. This strategy has empowered the Resort to successfully navigate international travel & economic crises such as SARS, and the COVID-19 Pandemics; whilst maintaining the authenticity of an Australian Resort that is attractive to both domestic and international travellers alike. As a company director, David’s responsibilities extend well beyond those of sales and marketing. With the company experiencing strong growth and undertaking significant capital works, David remains a key driver in the strategic planning and future development of the Resort. Since 2012 David has also managed and nurtured the Resort’s exclusive relationship with Carnival Cruise Lines, to establish Tangalooma as one of the leading cruise ship Destinations in the South Pacific Region. David is recognised as one of Australia’s top authorities on international tourism and has served on the Queensland China Council and Australian Tourism Export Council’s China advisory panels. David has served as the Vice-Chair on the Board of Southern Queensland Country Tourism since 2019 and has also been a member of advisory panels to Tourism Australia, Tourism & Events Queensland, and Brisbane Economic Development Agency.
